WELCOME

DEFENCE 2020 is a multi-faceted education program designed to encourage young Australians to become informed about the role of Australia's Defence Force and to engage in constructive dialogue on a wide range of Defence related issues such as national security and our rights and responsibilities as global citizens.

What does being a good citizen have to do with Defence?
What are our core Australian values and how are they relevant to our Defence forces?
How do our Defence forces uphold these values both at home and abroad?
How can the work and values of our Defence forces inspire our younger generation?

These are the types of questions that can be explored in the second stage of the Defence 2020 education program that will be available in every Australian secondary school in 2008.

On this site you will be able to:

  • Discover how our Defence forces work as a community and with other communities both at home and abroad
  • Explore the decision maker interactives to test yourself - are you a good decision maker?
  • Explore how our Defence forces promote the core values that underpin our nation's cultural image through educational material related to defence issues
  • Discover the work done by students during 2008 who investigated past and present individuals or groups who have served, or are currently serving, our nation with distinction
